And the word is: Consistency
What is this about?
I’m sure you’ve seen people selecting one word to “live by” for the year. It can go along with a resolution…or could even be seen as an un-revolution. A couple of years ago when I first heard about choosing a word for the year my word was BOLD. I don’t recall selecting a word for 2016. I think I was just in survival mode at this time last year following my endometriosis surgery (and complication related surgeries).
Choosing My 2017 Word
I chose the word “consistency” because it is something that I have always struggled with. I am a very creative person and like to do all kinds of things from quilting, to creating graphics, to cooking, and organizing…but I have a hard time being consistent. This lack of consistency flows into all areas of my life -including posting to this blog – and it’s time for a change.
2017 Goals And How Consistency Fits With Them
Stick To The Plan
As I said before I tend to have grand idea she but sticking with a plan is hard…I have even purchased planners but rarely use them. My goal is to change that this year. None of my goals will work unless I am consistent with my plan and growth – personally & business – won’t happen either.
- “Socially” Consistent – Whether it’s updating my blog or posting to other social media outlets, I have a lot of great ideas and graphics but they’re in various places and/or never get posted.
- Weight Loss/Exercise – This is ALWAYS on my mind, especially at the beginning of the year. I’ve been there, done that, and know what I need to do in order to make it happen. I’m going to focus on healthy eating and adding more exercise.
- Eating At Home – I don’t even have kids and I have come to DREAD meal planning and prep! I don’t even know why other than as my endometriosis began to flare and I had surgeries and complications, I just don’t have the energy/desire as much as I once did. It’s coming back (slowly) but I have a hard time finding recipes that sound good and are healthy! I’m a fairly picky eater. So, look forward to more food shares.
- Spiritual – We are Catholic and often hear that “Catholics don’t read the Bible” which is not true. I have decided that I will spend some time each evening before bed either reading the Bible or a devotional. There is even a place in my planner for a daily quote and will be following the Scripture Study Plan from Kayse Pratt over at Intentional Moms. My overall verse for 2017 is:
Do More Of The Things You Love
Before I joined Perfectly Posh, I spent my free time creating: cross stitching, sewing, quilting, other hand work. I truly miss the time I used to spend working on things. I do not intend to begin new projects but to finish the numerous projects I have already started.
What Is Your Word?
Do you have a word, goal, or resolution for the new year? I’d love for you to share it with me in the comments!
